The Registered Nurse is accountable and responsible for providing care to a wide range of patient population including children, infants, neonatal, new mothers, adults and elderly between obstetrics and surgical department. Within this role, the Registered Nurse is assigned to either unit  on a daily basis dependent upon  on organizational needs to meet quality of care and safety of patients. The Registered Nurse practices according to the standards of Nursing Practice of the College of Nurses of Ontario, and approved standards of care of the Corporation. 

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Registered Nurse with current certification with the College of Nurses of Ontario
  • BScN Preferred, minimum completion of diploma in nursing
  • Minimum of 1 year recent (within 1-2 years) medical-surgical and pediatric experience. (preferred)
  • Recent experience in obstetrics including labour and delivery (Preferred)
  • Current NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) Certification or enrolled into the course within 6 months
  • Current BCLS certificate required
  • ENPC (Emergency Nursing Paediatric Course) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) or willingness to obtain within 6 months
  • Fetal Health Surveillance in Labour Program completed within last 2 years(preferred)
  • Maternal Newborn Nursing Certificate complete or in progress (preferred)
  • Breastfeeding course (20 hour INFACT/WHO completed or in progress)
  • Current STABLE certification (preferred)
  • Acceptable performance and attendance records (applies to internal applicants only)

  • The duration of this position is approximately 12 months.
