For over 20 years, Collingwood General & Marine Hospital (CGMH), Georgian Bay General Hospital (GBGH), Headwaters Health Care Centre (HHCC) and Royal Victoria Regional Health Centre (RVH) have been in partnership sharing a single Health Information System (HIS) – Meditech. This group has come to be known as the “Regional IT Partnership”.

The primary purpose of this partnership is to improve patient safety and quality of care by promoting, implementing and maintaining a one patient, one record vision through a single shared HIS. The Regional IT Partnership has identified information and technology as a key pillar to support a safe and efficient patient experience while driving clinical excellence. We are excited to be preparing for the implementation of a new health information system (Meditech Expanse) that will bring together a team of skilled clinical experts and stakeholders from the four partner hospitals.

POSITION SUMMARY & ACCOUNTABILITIES

Georgian Bay General Hospital is a 105-bed hospital with sites located in the municipalities of Midland and Penetanguishene, serving the communities of Midland, Penetanguishene, Township of Tiny, Township of Tay, Christian Island, Georgian Bay Township and Springwater Township. We are located in historic Huronia on the shores of beautiful Georgian Bay, just 90 minutes north of Toronto. Georgian Bay General Hospital offers services comparable to other community hospitals in the province supporting the general health care needs of our patients. Georgian Bay General Hospital serves a population base of 55,000, swelling to more than 150,000 for six months of the year. Our services include 24-hour emergency department, inpatient medicine, obstetrics, general surgery, outpatient day surgery, diagnostic imaging (radiology, ultrasound, and CT scan), pharmacy, respiratory therapy, in-patient physiotherapy, ambulatory care, regional complex continuing care center and a regional rehabilitation program as well as a nine-station dialysis unit.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

• must be a graduate from a Canadian College of a Health Information Management (CCHIM) recognized program for Health Information Professionals
• registered with the Canadian Health Information Management Association
• registered with the Ontario Health Information Management Association
• certification with the Canadian College of Health Information Management (CCHIM)
• must be familiar with the principles and practices of health record administration and be able to apply them to any hospital situation
• strong P.C. skills including Med2020 Winrecs,Folio,Crystal Reports and other applicable software applications
• strong mathematical and analytical skills as per health care statistical calculations
• must have applicable knowledge of ICD-10-CA/CCI for the purpose of Coding and Abstracting National Ambulatory Care Reporting Systems (NACRS)
• knowledge of CMG and RIW principles, CMG Grouper and report writing functions (NACRS),(SDC) & (DAD)
• thorough knowledge of current Canadian Coding Standards and DAD/NACRS for collection of diagnosis, interventions, and specified data elements required
• preferably a minimum of two years of recent experience with ICD-10-CA/CCI coding classification and abstracting software – preferably Med2020 Winrecs
• familiar with Provincial Acts including, but not limited to the Hospital Acts, Personal Health Information Protection Act and Freedom of Information Act
• proven experience within a hospital-related setting
• two years’ experience in a similar capacity
• previous experience with Meditech and Microsoft Office required
• previous experience with electronic health record
• previous experience in a computerized Health Records department (asset)
• fluency in both English & French (asset)
