As an active member of a high functioning interdisciplinary team, the Orthopaedic Technician provides client-centered clinical care to support the delivery of the service for orthopaedic patients in the clinic setting. Carries out responsibilities and assists in the care of patients in the orthopaedic and related clinics.
 

The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Orthopaedic Technician Certification and registration with the CSOT or Regulated Health Professional in good standing with their college

  • Current B.C.L.S. Ontario Heart Foundation Standards

  • 1-2 years of work experience working directly in the care of orthopaedic patients

  • Demonstrated understanding of anatomical structures and relationships with one another and the ability to describe orthopaedic conditions

  • Ability to apply, adjust and remove all common orthopaedic devices

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the theory and application of skin and skeletal traction

  • Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to Headwaters comprehensive safety programs and practices, including staff safety, patient safety, environmental safety, and participates in regular in-service education in this area

  • Demonstrated effective communication, organizational and interpersonal skills

  • Physically capable of performing all aspects of orthopaedic technician’s duties

  • Energetic, highly motivated, detail oriented individual with strong work ethic

  • Demonstrated strong organizational skills

  • Appropriate lifting techniques

  • Acceptable performance and attendance records
